PARKSVILLE — Oceanside RCMP say alcohol is likely behind a Sunday morning crash which sent a driver tumbling thirty feet down a steep embankment.
RCMP Cpl. Jesse Foreman said every emergency service in the area, including firefighters from Errington, responded to a bend in Allsbrook Rd. at 8:20 a.m. on Sunday, April 23.
After firefighters used ropes to rescue the 55-year-old female driver, Foreman said it became clear the driver was intoxicated.
“Luckily she was all alone, but it’s pretty concerning when someone’s impaired by alcohol at 8:20 a.m.,” he said.
The investigation is ongoing but Foreman confirmed they’re pursuing drunk driving charges.
The driver was taken to hospital but thankfully suffered only minor injuries.
