NANAIMO — Those interested in running in this fall’s local government election can learn more about the process leading up to election day and the role of an elected official.
The City of Nanaimo and Regional District of Nanaimo are co-hosting a pair of candidate information sessions on Wednesday, July 15 at the Regional District of Nanaimo”s board chambers at 6300 Hammond Bay Rd. from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., which will be livestreamed on the City and RDN websites.
A second in-person only session happens on Wednesday, Aug. 12 at Tigh-Na-Mara Seaside Spa Resort & Conference Centre’s Grand Strathcona Room at 1155 Resort Dr. in Parksville, also from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Both info sessions will cover the same material and are drop-in sessions, with no registration required, noted a City of Nanaimo news release.
The City of Nanaimo will have nomination packages available starting on Tuesday, Aug. 4., while the nomination filing period is between Sept. 1 and Sept. 11.
General voting day is on Saturday, Oct. 17 to elect municipal, regional district and school board representatives.
