October 10th, 1979, the Mayor of Los Angeles declared this date “Fleetwood Mac Day”! They also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame the same date. Two days later, they released the album Tusk.
Wednesday, October 11th: Lenny Kravitz – It Ain’t Over ’til It’s Over
Lenny wrote this during a tumultuous time in his marriage to Lisa Bonet. He had said of the time that his thoughts were, “not just a depression, but a fog. I didn’t know which way was up.” He wanted to offer the song to Smokey Robinson since he preferred to stay an underground artist. His label talked him into recording it himself.
Thursday, October 12th: John Denver – Take Me Home, Country Roads
John Denver died October 12th, 1997. He was 53. An unfortunate accident when he was flying his plane doing touch and go landings; he wasn’t able to switch fuel tanks during flight. This is said to have caused the crash.
Friday, October 13th: The Beatles – She Loves You
It was Oct. 13th, 1974 when television host Ed Sullivan died. He was 73. When we hear Ed Sullivan’s name, can’t help but think of the wildest moment in TV history that happened on The Ed Sullivan Show, when he introduced the Beatles and mass hysteria ensued. This is one of the songs they performed.
