PARKSVILLE – The Parksville Curling Club is no stranger to holding major events.
Since 2007 they have hosted six provincial bonspiels, including the BC Mixed this past March, and have been chosen as the venue for the 2018 Mens Championship.
The club previously hosted the qualifier for the Brier in back to back years in 2012 and 2013 which is rare. The 500 seat building lends itself to more enjoyment of the event, according to the clubs’ Terry Miller.
“It is a unique facility in that it was previously a hockey arena,” he said. “It provides viewing opportunities and it emulates the kind of curling which is done at the Canadian and international level in arena settings.”
Miller says work has already started on securing sponsorships and finding as many as 150 volunteers to put on the event.
Mens provincials will run from January 30 to February 4.
