HAMILTON, ON — A local singer is continuing to announce his presence on the world stage.

Nanaimo’s Cameron Whitcomb earned two Juno Awards on Sunday, March 29, including for Breakthrough Artist of the Year, as well as Country Album of the Year for “The Hard Way”.

Accepting the award for Breakthrough Artist, an ecstatic Whitcomb said he’ll keep driving forward and repaying the faith fans have shown in him.

“I’ve been finding myself asking why lately, why I get to do this and why I’ve been blessed with this opportunity. Honestly, I still don’t know. But what I do know is I will not squander this opportunity. I love you guys, and thank you so much.”

Whitcomb, 23, also promised to keep working hard and staying sober.

He shot to fame during the 2022 season of American Idol, finishing in the top 20 and used the show to launch his career with music releases in 2024 and 2025.

In September 2025, Whitcomb won two honours at the Canadian Country Music Association awards, including Breakthrough Artist of the Year.
