I’ve made it a point to travel too as many Gulf Islands on our beautiful slice of heaven as I could in my four years living here and with my most recent trip to ‘Hornby Island’ scratched off the list I can now say I’ve visited 5 wonderful Island gems.
Hornby Island: As I was saying; recently the family and I went away with the in-laws. It was only a one night visit for us but I was blown away at how pretty this Island was. Two short ferry rides and your there. By the way Tribune Bay Beach and Helliwell Provincial Park are some must check out spots.
Denman Island: Fun Fact! Did you know that the ferry between Buckley Bay and Denman is run by a cable!!! Cuz’ I didn’t know that! Denman was a cute little Island and the only way to drive to Hornby sooooo with some time to kill we went and visited Boyle Point Provincial Park a short drive away from the 2nd ferry stop. I tell ya it’s not a bad view while stretching your legs.
Quadra Island: This was a nice little getaway a few years back. The wife and I called it the ‘calm before the storm’ trip because she was 36 weeks pregnant at the time. We rented a perfect little spot just by Rebecca Spit Marine Provincial Park in Heriot Bay. Four weeks after this trip our son was born AND WE NEVER WENT ON A VACATION AGAIN! Just kidding…
Salt Spring Island: Hands down one of my most memorable and favourite Island trips. I was in that hot tub pretty much the entire time and one of the greatest views/sunsets I’ve ever seen. A beautiful Island in and out. A must eat on Salt Spring ‘The Tree House Cafe’.
Gabriola Island: This Island holds a special place in my heart. Not only do my in-laws live on Gabe, but my wife and I were married on this beautiful Island in the summer of 2019 (shout out to the Surf Lodge). The galleries are a must see and some of the best swimming fun can be found at Twin Beaches.
