PARKSVILLE — Hundreds of unionized Regional District of Nanaimo employees have a new three-year contract.
The RDN and CUPE Local 401 jointly announced the deal, effective at the start of this year, which features wage increases of two per cent each year.
Three-hundred and ninety-two unionized RDN staff provide a variety of public services between Cedar and Qualicum Beach.
More than 500 CUPE Local 401 members working for the City of Nanaimo are still without a new contract.
Their three-year pact expired at the end of 2016.
Unionized workers in the municipalities of Parksville and Lantzville both recently agreed to five-year contract agreements.
