PARKSVILLE — A third commercial air carrier will soon offer regional service out of Qualicum Beach Airport.
Island Express Air will provide daily flights from Qualicum Beach to Victoria, Boundary Bay and Abbotsford, starting March 5, the company announced.
Island Express Air owner Gerry Visser said their Oceanside area customers have asked for easier access from Qualicum Beach to the Fraser Valley.
“Abbotsford is far more convenient, less traffic and it’s cheaper, it’s less money to take one flight rather than two carriers.” Visser said.
The flights from Qualicum Beach to Abbotsford will be indirect.
Visser said Island Express Air hopes to further expand to Bellingham, Washington within the next year.
Island Express Air is a nine-year-old Abbotsford based company that also provides service from the Fraser Valley city to Nanaimo and Victoria.
The company added scheduled service to Comox in 2016, and has plans to further expand to Bellingham, Washington within the next year.
